Our Favourite Derbyshire Walks

Honest Communications, a specialist garden and home PR agency, social media management, content creation and communications agency

Derbyshire is famous for being home to vast amounts of the Peak District, so it’s no question that Honest HQ is in a very beautiful part of the UK! How lucky are we to have such picturesque views on our doorstep?!

Here at Honest, we all love heading out on a walk, whether that be before work, during our lunch breaks, after work or at the weekend! It’s a way for us all to switch off from our screens and make sure we’re getting a regular dose of nature. With being either a walk or short drive away from breath-taking Derbyshire countryside, we’ve put together some of our favourite destinations you can explore this summer to see them for yourself!

Mam Tor

Located in the High Peak of Derbyshire, and just over one hour from the city centre, Mam Tor provides you with some utterly stunning views, taking in the whole of Hope Valley on one side and the whole of the Derwent Moors on the other. As one of the most popular walks in Derbyshire and the Peak District, it is one not to be missed! It’s also one that our Account Director, Beth, has ventured up before whilst enjoying her weekend and recommends it as a must for the spectacular views!

Lady Bower

The Lady Bower Reservoir is a stunning location for a summer walk, at the heart of the Peak District National Park. Not only is it perfect for a nice stroll, but it also greets you with magnificent views of one half of the reservoir along with the inspiring Derwent Dam. It’s a dog friendly walk, with a great variety of scenery for the dogs to check out!

Dovedale

Dovedale is a renowned beauty spot within Derbyshire, known for the River Dove, with the iconic picturesque stepping stones! If you follow the River Dove up towards the stepping stones you can climb to the top of Thorpe Cloud and be greeted with panoramic views of the Peak District. The whole Honest team have all of course enjoyed crossing over the stepping stones and, naturally, we recommend finishing the hike with a cooling ice cream!

Curbar Edge

Although there are many more walks within Derbyshire, Curbar Edge is our final top pick! Other wise we would be here for hours. To simply see the views, the walk is of minimal difficulty, offering some of the very best views in the Peak District. The whole walk offers a mixture of terrain, from the uneven edge to country lands, fields and tracks and woodland paths. It is one not to be missed, and if you are looking for the perfect sunset spot – here it is!

As a team, we all love spending our free time discovering new places to discover and explore, whether that is to one of our favourite spots within Derbyshire or just to the local park. At Honest, we all try and get away from out desks to head out on a walk no matter the location, to take all important time away to relax and recharge! We even have a walking group called Sole Sisters, too!
