Hello! Sophie here – Honest’s new Junior Account Executive.
It’s been a whirlwind couple of months since I joined the team here at Honest in January! As I settle into my role, I thought I’d share a rundown of the exciting experiences and projects I’ve been up to so far.
Now, a little background about me:
Last year I completed a year in industry as a Marketing Intern at THG. During this time, I was on the Influencer team, working with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands, such as Elemis, Nestle and Secret Sales. My role involved everything from researching influencers to work with and reaching out to them, to crafting campaign briefs, overseeing content creation, and reporting on campaign performance. I gained invaluable industry experience and had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients and influencers.
But as my internship drew to a close and I prepared to return to university for my final year, I found myself at a crossroads. Going back to lectures and textbooks after a year in industry felt like a step backward, I was eager to continue my career journey…
As I began searching for graduate roles, I stumbled upon the junior account executive role at Honest. From the moment I saw the job advertisement, I knew I had to apply! The prospect of a part-time position in PR, alongside my university studies, was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up on.
Fast forward to January, I started my role and I’m now two months in!
My first few days were a whistle-stop of introductions, learning about our wonderful clients and absorbing information like a sponge. From understanding the fundamentals of PR to familiarising myself with our client portfolio across the gardening and horticultural sector, I soon settled into my role quickly! The warmth and support of the Honest team made the transition very smooth.
It’s true what they say about working in PR, no two days are the same! I am always immersed in a range of activities that keep me on my toes and constantly engaged. From writing and scheduling PR materials to creating content for our clients’ social media channels, the scope of my responsibilities spans across traditional and digital media landscapes. Research is also a significant component of my role, whether this be creating targeted media lists, identifying opportunities for client exposure in the media or researching influencers to work with.
One of my highlights at Honest so far has to be the launch of The Honest Network, Honest’s new influencer marketing platform designed to connect influencers and content creators with brands in the home and garden industry. Although it’s still in its early stages, I am filled with anticipation for its growth and impact! Transitioning from working with influencers primarily in the fashion and beauty sectors, to my new role focusing on gardening and horticultural clients has been an exciting shift. While the industries differ significantly, I’m enthusiastic about the opportunities and potential for growth that the gardening and horticulture sectors offer!
My first two months at Honest have been nothing short of exhilarating. From diving headfirst into my new role and being part of such a wonderful team, every day at Honest has been filled with excitement and growth. In addition to this, working at Honest comes with a host of perks! The flexibility in working hours has been a tremendous asset as I wrap up my degree, and who can resist the allure of extra Flexi Fridays? The monthly team knowledge shares cultivate a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. As well as the recent SEO training session with Gravity Digital was particularly enlightening, highlighting the intricate relationship between PR and SEO and arming us with invaluable insights to bolster our strategies. And let’s not forget the office snacks – always plentiful and a delightful perk that keeps energy levels high during busy days.
As I continue to navigate the ever-evolving world of PR, I am eager to embrace new challenges, learn from experiences and grow with the Honest team!
