It seems we’re full of exciting announcements lately, with the launch of our Senior Leadership Team, a promotion for Beth and our appointment by iconic British brand Maxicrop.
And we have yet another to share!
We’re incredibly excited to announce that we have been appointed by British rose breeding brand, David Austin Roses, to manage its PR for the upcoming RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The much-loved company, which is renowned worldwide for its exquisite English roses, is set to return to the prestigious event in May to unveil its exclusive new variety – an annual tradition that is highly anticipated among garden enthusiasts, media and industry alike…not to mention the Honest Communications team!
As specialists in providing support for horticultural brands, plant growers and garden designers, we know a thing or two about RHS Chelsea Flower Show, so will be supporting with PR and media relations on the lead up to the event and throughout show week. Our job is to ensure the launch captures the hearts and imaginations of the Great British public – and beyond! Challenge accepted – although it may not be the hardest challenge ever considering just how beautiful every David Austin Rose is!
We’ve got history!
But it’s not the first time we’ve worked with David Austin Roses. In fact, we have history, having previously worked together on the launch of the two new varieties named after beloved literary characters at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2019. The project included:
- Launching the Eustacia Vye and Gabriel Oak varieties
- Arranging for the BBC to film with Mary Berry at the nursery ahead of the show, showing behind the scenes at the company, the breeding process and preparations for Chelsea
- Working with the BBC for a follow up TV feature filmed at Chelsea
- On stand support and press day management
- Handling communications around the tribute memorial to David Austin Senior and RHS liaison for this unique opportunity
- Creating internal and external communication documents to ensure messaging consistency around the delicate subject of the first Chelsea since David Austin senior passed away
- Press pack creation and distribution
- Handling media enquiries and arranging the show interview schedule with newspapers, magazines, TV and radio
- Managing journalist and celebrity attendance throughout the day
This year, though, the launch is a particularly special one, and while our lips are sealed for now, trust us when we say you’re going to want to watch this space for the big reveal on Press Day!
Having specialised in the horticultural industry since Honest was founded, it’s safe to say that we can’t wait to get stuck into delivering our strategy and are already counting down the days until RHS Chelsea.
Slow Living
Alongside providing support for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, we will also be working on the brand’s Slow Living initiative. Our aim is to engage the next generation of gardeners, encouraging consumers to slow down and reconnect with the world around them by highlighting the benefits of disconnecting from modern life through gardening and other mindful activities. We want the Great British public to stop and smell the roses, if you will! We’ve got some inspiring collaborations and thought-provoking content up our sleeves, some of which is live already and can be found here. Keep an eye out for more content coming this month!
